Rebecca Lepkoff, the legendary Lower East Side photographer, posed for our photographer, Tequila Minsky, at a mutual friend’s house in December. “I saw her wearing that velvety holiday outfit,” Minsky recalled. “I saw the couch, and I asked her if I could take a portrait. It started as a traditional sitting-on-the-couch-type portrait, and evolved into this odalisque shot. Given she’s 96, I think it’s really fun!” An exhibit of Lepkoff’s photos from the 1930s and ’40s, “Life on the Lower East Side,” is on view through April’s end at the Tenement Museum, 103 Orchard St.
