‘Inflatable man’ overboard!
Firefighters from the stationhouse at Sixth Ave. and Houston St. were recently practicing water rescues on an “inflatable victim” at Pier 46, at Charles St. in Hudson River Park. As the weather warms up, people go into the water — thinking they can swim — said the firefighters. “Last year, 38 people went into the water [not counting jumpers] — 18 were pulled out alive,” one of the smoke eaters said. Police Department divers also joined the training.
